Bee sting allergies

Being inquisitive, dogs and cats often come across a bee or wasp only to find out the hard way what the results can be.
Some pets can react quite markedly, just like people allergic to bee stings.
Luckily, the majority or allergic reactions don't cause an asthma type of reaction, but they certainly cause massive swelling of the bitten area.

Its a good idea to get to your vet ASAP for an examination to ensure there has been no asthma type of reaction, and to administer an injection of anti-histamines and/or cortisone.

If your pet has had this happen before, it might be a good idea to have a packet of antihistamines on hand. Give a tablet as soon as signs develop. If no improvement within 20-30 minutes, call your vet.
